Bloom

Bloom 🤍 is a beautiful and healthy female puppy! All females have similar coating. She have slightly lighter coating than others. 
Benji and Abby are the parents, they have both passed OFA’s for eyes, and heart. Benji has his hips and elbows through OFA and Abby passed her PennHips test. 
    Abby only has one carrier gene in her genetic panel. It’s for ICH-1 she is clear on the rest of her genetic panel. 
   When we purchased Benji 1.5 years ago, he was supposed to be Clear on all of his genetic panel. Both his parents have their clearances, we saw that before we bought him. We have the records. When clear dogs mate they can only produce clear puppies. 
   We paired Abby and Benji based on this knowledge, thinking that Benji was all clear. After we had bred them, we received Benji’s genetic test results from Animal Genetics and he had a carrier Gene for the same thing Abby has, ICH-1. The Breeder that we bought him from must have had a faulty test on either the mom or dad… we actually retested Benji to make sure he really had a carrier Gene for ICH-1, and he really does.
   After getting Benji’s 2nd results back we decided that we would have to test the puppies to see if any had ICH-1. 
   6 puppies came back either clear or carriers. 4 puppies have ICH-1. 
   ICH-1 does not effect the longevity of life in a golden retriever. It’s kind of like having Dandruff. You have to bathe them more often, brush them more often, and a healthy diet that will help control it. They say chicken is a no, lamb kibble will help. 
    We never planned on breeding two carriers. This has never happened before. The puppies are very cute and should live a long life with good hips, elbows, eyes and heart. It’s unfortunate that this happened but I’m sure someone will provide a wonderful home and environment for these 4 puppies! One of them has already been selected for a great home. 
    We have lowered the price of the puppies by $1,000 to help with any inconvenience like extra shampoo and bathing.
   When you do your research remember this is ICH-1 not ICH-2. ICH-2 is much worse symptoms.  ICH-1 has very mild symptoms.
